Open Question: What do you think about segregation in the Mosques in America?

I am a White American Female Convert to Islam...I will not criticize nor try to change Islam because it is not my place to, it is not my battle. I leave that to those born into it... But I will say this... I believe the Hajj is one of the times when women and men are completely equal with eachother, truly practicing as muslims should.... .. Women in AMERICA who are converts, when segregated, are being discriminated against... It has everything to do with our history as Americans and our concepts of what is prejudice and oppressive... I do feel that segregation in the Mosques (In AMERICA) is oppressive.. It is keeping us from learning our religion within the community instead of just at home... I do not go to Mosque because of this, but I still adore Islam, because it is not the Quran nor the prophet that mandates this, it is merely a difference in cultural practices and our perceptions of the world and how women fit in to it... I meet plenty of immigrant women in America who are the ones that enforce the segregation... I just can't do it, not as an American lady fully aware of our history of segregation in this country... I will never allow myself to be segregated voluntarily, it goes against every of my beliefs in what civil rights are... BUT, I am not giving up Islam, I am a muslim and I believe in the Quran... Unfortunately unless or until segregation in the mosques ends, I will not be participating in that section of my religion.... What do my fellow Muslims think about this? Yes the back rows, I agree... But what about complete segregation? In a different room and can't even look the speaker? On a completely different floor.... What about that? Let me also add... the segregation also keeps women from actually participating and being a part of the Mosque.. I find the men being very harsh towards me during Eid when I wante dto go downstairs and eat.. He criticized me because it was mostly men.... So what? I can't celebrate Eid because it is mostly men? After that incident I have not gone back to the Mosque

Open Question: Adults as third graders?

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade in 2000. The presidential election was heating up and some of the kids showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would pick our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mom. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise. She said, 'If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.' She sat down. The class went wild. 'Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.' She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. every they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a land slide. Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offers ice cream, and 60% percent of America reacts like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other 40% percent know they're going to have to feed the cow.

Open Question: Is America going to change it's name to The U.S.S.A ?

The United Socialist States of America ? The way America is buying [Nationalising] banks. Thinking about giving $26 billion to the big three car makers and talking about firing the Board of Directors . Secret Prisons. Illegal rendition. Preemptive wars. Ignoring the rule of law. Refusing to answer question from The home Judiciary Committee. Wiretapping citizens phone and internet and then forcing the providers of those services to give Govn name and addresses. The list goes on and on. Is America acting like the old Soviet regime. Or is it o.k. as America is doing it ? Hang no Brave New World, I'm Australian and I vote for the labor party down here. The A.L.P. is like the Democrates. I think the election of Obama is great for the entire planet. My question relates to Americans who are worried about socialism and communism. What do they think their Goverment is doing..lol

Open Question: Do the Obama haters realize how much of a minority they are?

Only 9 percent of Americans think Obama will change the country for the worse. That is less then 1/3 of the Republican base. So, for every this talk of "Obamabots" and brainwashing, a majority of their possess party does not agree with them. And the relax of America does not agree with them either. So who's really in the dark here? It must feel pretty lonely. That's probably why they every arrive here; to feel less alone. Source: CNN http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/13/poll.obama/index.html Yes, he is supported by a wider margin then voted for him. That only means that other Republicans are more open mined then those here. If you believe CNN is not a credible source,.. well,.. that probably explains why you're in the dark.

Open Question: why are french sites charging so much more for an xfx 9800gt?

i'm american and living in france for years now. I want to buy an xfx 9800gt video card. i've seen it for 100 dollars (130 with a 30 dollar rebate) on american sites (which dont seem to accept credit cards from other countries such as france). On the other hand, every the french sites are asking a minimum of 130 euros. So whats the reason for this (aside from blatent theft) and how do I receive around it? While i know french taxes are crazy high, this is just ridiculous. 130euros is about 162 bucks, compared to about 100 bucks. they've practically raised the price by 75 percent of the original price. 3 quarters, why not make it 4 and double the price? I'll be damned if I pay so much. I've already considered sending the money to my family in america and having them send it to me. but if I could find a way to just buy direct online for a good price i'd be happier. plus if someone could explain this insane pricing that would be interesting. blaming it on french taxes is partially true, but not the answer i'm looking for. I've used a site called iloprix that had reasonable prices, and guess what? they dont have the 9800gt, just the gtx's for about 150 euros, too bad my limit is 130 euros (shipping included). any help on finding a better site with a good price, or at least more insight onto whats going on with this "collective"/"group" rip-off (and how to receive around it)would be great.

Open Question: Why do Americans believe that Clinton was entirely responsible for a great economy during his presidency?

I am not trying to slam Clinton or beat a dead horse, but the misinformation that is being vehemently VOMITTED from the mouths of Dems I talk to, adore to praise Clinton for a great economy he created... Now lets look at this for a moment: Why do people expect Presidents and Government to create jobs and a thriving economy? Can we not determine how big the dot.com industry EXPLODED a untrue sense of wealth in stock market, and Corporate book cooking Enron, Tyco, Worldcom? I mean holy crap, the dot.com industry was everywhere every at once, it was a bubble, and what happens to a bubble...it bursts. Can Clinton honestly be given this credit, or are we to ignorant to understand that it is ENTREPRUNURIAL SPIRIT from we Americans that drives the Economy! Is it kudos to him for the dot.com industry explosion? Is it his fault there was corporate book cooking? No, none of this happened to have anything to do with him at every. It was US. In fact on the topic of National security, I hear alot of BS that Bush didnt protect us from the terrorist threats of 9/11!!! Had anyone even heard of Bin Laden before Bush? Bin Laden began attacks on US territory DURING his presidency transition in 1992, attacked the world trade middle again in 93, bombed embassy in Kenya 96, and these are just a few. Is America just THAT ignorant that we voted Obama into office because we compared the perceived Bleak Bush years to the percieved Golden years of Clinton? Please look at facts people!

Open Question: - from a Mom's viewpoint- Would the crime rates be so high if the punishments were more severe?

In America, it seems, we are so concerned about people's rights that I fear too often offenders receive by so easy, it encourages, not discourages, other people from committing the same crime. I read one time of a country that punished stealing by cutting off the person's hand. Yes, that is very extreme, and I don't condone it, but really, harsher punishments would make people think twice about doing such a thing again. For example, I guess it really burns me up to think that it is possible that someday my child could be raped/molested by a pedophile, a repeat offender, who only got a fine and a little jail time. What, in your opinion, would be a suitable punishment for such a crime? One that would help that person and others think long and difficult about EVER trying such a thing? Alyssa's mommy- yes, some crimes are difficult to prove BUT sometimes a person is obviously guilty of heinous crimes and they are allowed to go free on some absurd technicality.

With the economic down turn and mass illegal immigration removing what jobs are out there not to mention the remittance sent out of the country, do you feel it is time to revamp the made in America campaign. Do you think it would work ? this would be a voluntary system. NO mandate for every companies. But I figure if you receive a big company that has a big market share in their field it would snowball into more.

Open Question: Do you really want to just blend in?

I can understand why homosexuals wanted to blend in and conform 20-30 years ago. We had just been liberated from our closets, which we had been forced into for centuries. We had just gained freedom from the government consindering us criminals, from the medical professionals considering us mentally sick. We wanted to immediately arrive out and be acknowledged as "normal." But now, almost 40 years after our great liberation, we've grown as a subculture. We have our possess culture! Our possess films, music, television channels, our possess stores, noted authors, actors, political figures, urban centers, neighborhoods, museums.. even our possess schools now (or soon anyway)! Why would we want to deny every that now to blend in and assimilate into mainstream, heterosexual cultures? Can't we just co-exist, the way groups from other countries co-exist in America? Because to "blend in" would involve giving up most of what defines us now. We can't completely blend in with heterosexuals and expect to still have our possess separate gay identities. And isn't blending in just another way of being in the closet? I'd like some opinions, because I for one highly value being different, unique, and non-traditional. ☼ Sorry to keep repeating this line of questioning, but it's something about which I feel quite strongly. (Mark) Men and women shouldn't be treated equally then? There are many groups that insist on being treated as equals (Jewish, Asian American, Atheist, etc.), and they also value their individual cultures and histories. One can have both equality and individuality.

Open Question: Foreign leaders "snub" bush at G20. What do you think?

First of every, I'm a liberal democrat and I'm no fan of Bush but, this upsets me. I don't care if you don't like the man but, respect his position as President of the United States of America. They didn't just "snub bush", they disrespected my country. Hey Sophie, Don't assume that I have never been outside of the USA. I served my country in the military and have been to war. I'm living in the Philippines and have been to over 20 countries. And Liberals are more likely to have traveled outside of the US anyways. Did you know that Bush had never been outside of the country before he was elected? Hey ATJ, What are you talking about? I thought you republicans were every about less regulation. How could you blame it on democrats? Hey Ray, You obviously don't realize that technology made the global economy and it's easy for the little guy to compete with the big guy now. These countries matter very much. Disregar, this is proven untrue.

Open Question: Do we believe Obama Transition Team will pull it off With GOP Breathing down the Democrat Majority's Neck?

General Opinion of The Public a Program on The Rampage in Political Decision Land only weeks away from being deactivated by the solution of the Election swining Obama's way by the publoic opinion goint go to Polling Station to bring out their enourmous increased amount ofVotes from The People of The United States. If it tought us one thing, not to trust survey answers, of people who need to pay mortgages have health insurance, and who have been takenb for granted in the never ending stream of rules and regulations, coming from Governments pretending to design laws for every people to live by. Just such a shame, that upper classess possess ost of the shares, not knowing, that their Christmas Bonus was Paid out as a Corperate Bonus, hoping to add to a decent solid base underneath A World In Progress, only to have to find out when it comes to the crunch, that having some of it makes thbose Interimn Managers Greedier and Greedier. Last Years Bonus, was one of The Top years in Corporate Christmas Bonusland, where Saint Nick was left to carry the bag on an empty stomache. Where do Car Industries Yets arrive into an equason, because Transport by Business rail is One too classy for a management Class not fit to receive salary for the quality in Management performed. Leaving every m odernisation to the Big cap Of Easter Bunnies Goodies to fork out however, did pose an undeniable lack of character ad particiopation on aboard room in Car Industries to write home to Mum about in Our Financial Year.Car Industry America will only survive, when the demanding a olution stops, because Thechnically they have no management solid enough to mnake demands on a payt package, which never believed to have to resort to in this situation, nor in any situation to do with Higher Technology stepping up activity in the Western World as it is. Surprise! Surprise!!! Have you noticed lately that Globally every Car Industry is being encouraged to arrive with figures, to Make That Inventory of Good United Will, control our Diverse Museal Character of car Industry which Marks as Clearly as a Star Lighting up in The Dark The Birth of Technology in Our Society. There's no telling what it would be a loss in Securities directly in the wake of a failing Industry placing people at big for a hurdle thay cannot possible wish to jump in this Steeple chase to Technologies Higher Function in Society. I am completely in possession of my faculties, when I claim Once again, that The GI are as real as the doubles being dumped through secret Virtual Transport as was below control of Rogue America Army Technologists Developer Unit, who went One too Far, like Arnhems Bridge in '44 was well within the limits of someone's planning to stall Allied progress in Wester Europe, to slow down allied forces, so a Dutch Conmander in Chief could work out a secret plan of his possess. Only it Backfires now, while Information Streams in every directions have been opened for Information to flow freely and enhance Webs Outer Image into the World of Media, which allows for my Felicitations to be heared in Russia as I talk here entering this Question with a hook up in past performance over the years. We Grow into One Nation, despite the Tantrums Politicians want to blame for inedaquate decision making. Like Somalia for instance has a Point, when they claim a fee for giving back the Tanker + Oil for a Fee. I take it they let kids out with a package of the Money (Honestly Pirated) which has to be Invested abroad to allow for Infrastructure back home. Just a Shgame, thaLiban's mom went to the States, so her youngest son came into the Clutches of The Government instead telling him every sorts after an attack on his life 13 years ago. We tought him as good as we could below circumstance, that he rpresents a sum of Internet's Money that wants to be invested as an honest wage. When Hackers receive careers with Industry paying quantum bucks for techniques thy can implement, it is no more than Fair Way, when Somalia gets what The Country needs. I would adore to be in with a Planning Stage, at the basis for a Financial household that will look to peoples needs in Somalia, but which will aslo need An Official Licence to SWail the Seas as the official Branch Transport Security Agency so they need to invest into Better Equipment to stay on top of Competition with lesser Good Intentions like Yellow Sea For Instance? Demonstrations in Iraq Today do not give way for much optimism, that agreement on American Soldiers In the Field in Iraq will have reached a satisfactory Solution inIraq. America should njot play on sympathy with The International Community when there is no reason for su optimism, because a demonstration of people in The Streets should be taken as a signal, that too many people feel passed over when it it comes to Government taking the consensus in their Country for granted in signing such an agreement. I work embedded inside Online WEB, and I do look the Effect my personal line For your Information Republicans have been made victim by a GOP, which started it's build during Mr Clintons adminstration. It only stands to reason, that GOP, will assume Power as Guideline into The De,ocrat Administration, by no means believe we're in the clear as yet. Obama faces every the People I call neighbor, because We shared meals from within Good tradition respecting eachothers backgrounds within an International movement halted from the Industrial Countries big Industries down, not able to grab hold of our minds and steer is into the numbness they now feel so sorry about, because the answer comes from the form my Generation made Unique as well as well loved every over taking the battle to uplift backward people serious, nby acknowledging their Ancience as The Afghani Apron (preferably Homnemade by the women on The Hashiesh Farms)that I waer, as an independent support towards Afghani Finance at home where It made sense. big Questions, because Information does not cease to .. Take into account I talk to you from an Exile I never wanted nor opted in for. Ask my Government where their jursidiction is in every of this. Netherlands kicked out of Interpol should mean something instead of every these inquisitive reactions pretending they did had no idea this was brewing???? I would not like to receive our wires crossed, but I take it GOP will breath down the neck where the opinion did cast the vote to become the majorty. This has been building up in a odd way on automated Pilot since my Spiritual Ownership was torn from me by an instructor. Maybe Mr. Clinton could elaborate the decision to let it relax untill The WEB would emerge on it's possess. Well it has, and in 2006 it saw fit to put me forward with lock and barrel WEB has a Queen. I don'expect anything for it, But The Taxes are being calculated for U.N. below One Unified Rule, and WEB sees fit to grant me enough room to open up your mouths and minds, to let WEB know, where Political Machinery needs insentives to perform better in operations where Nationalist Politics take away dynamics that have been assemnled for The Whole World to benefit from. Africa looking at Western World for Solutions, WEB wants them supported from Within Their Tribal Character to find back cap Colonialism destroyed over time
